Terms of Service

This site (license.screentool.org) is the account and licensing service for the ScreenTool desktop application, operated by ScreenTool.org.

Who we are

ScreenTool.org is an independent, home-based software business operating from New Zealand. You can reach us any time through the contact page.

The service

ScreenTool accounts store your email address, your display name and your license so the ScreenTool app can unlock the features you have paid for on any of your machines.

Accounts

You can create an account with an email address and password, or sign in with Google, Apple or Facebook. Keep your credentials to yourself: anything done through your account counts as done by you. One account per person; Enterprise licenses cover everyone signing in with an email on the licensed domain.

Personal use

Personal use of ScreenTool needs a paid subscription ($4 a month or $37 a year) or a one-off perpetual license for the current version. "Personal use" means you are not using it for or at work, for a business, government or other organisation, or to earn income. The first 1000 personal accounts to subscribe qualify as Founding Members and keep a reduced price ($2 a month or $21 a year) for as long as the subscription stays active; once those spots are taken, new subscriptions are at the standard price.

Commercial use

Any use of ScreenTool for or at work, by a business, government or other organisation, or to generate income, is commercial use and needs a paid per-seat Enterprise subscription from first use. An Enterprise license covers everyone signing in with an email on the licensed domain. You are billed each quarter only for people who actually signed in that cycle, at a volume rate ($1 / $0.80 / $0.70 / $0.50 / $0.40 per seat per month depending on how many signed in). People who have left and stopped signing in are not billed on the next cycle.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Subscriptions renew until cancelled; you can cancel any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. One-time (perpetual) licenses never expire for the version they cover.

Refunds

If a purchase went wrong or the product does not work for you, reach out via the contact page and we will sort it out.

Fair use

Do not resell licenses, share accounts to dodge seat counts, or abuse this service (scraping, probing, denial of service). We may suspend accounts that do.

Warranty

The service is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. Our liability is limited to the amount you paid in the last 12 months.

Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Nothing in them limits rights you cannot waive under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the consumer law of your own country.
